Dan Carroll

Daniel Carroll was born and raised in Troy, NY.  Growing up in Upstate New York instilled in Dan an appreciation for environmental preservation and farmer’s rights, which he feels can be achieved by strengthening existing urban cores and limiting sprawl.  In 2007, Dan graduated from the University at Albany (SUNY) with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning and Geography, and a minor in Sociology.  Following graduation, he worked for the NYS Office of Environmental Permits as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician, and then for the City of Albany, Water Department.  He is a Masters in Regional Planning (MRP) candidate (2012) in the Department of Geography and Planning at University at Albany (SUNY), specializing in Transportation.  Additionally, he is an Advanced Institute for Transportation Education (AITE) scholar researching the effects of increased bicycle and pedestrian planning on local economies and is serving an internship at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
